Light 05/26/2010

It won't be long until the 2010 PBS National Memorial Day Concert. I've learned that many of the actors/actresses, other talent, and production crew volunteer their time for this special event that will honor those who have died in war, as well as their families. It is an act of love. I'm thinking that the light from all the energy and love will combine into a bright beacon that can reach people who still live in the dark trenches of the battlefield of their mind and will serve to guide them as their heart finds it's way...home.
May God add His blessing to the production, the people involved, and those who will be watching. May we walk with hearts filled full of God's Peace.
See you there.

Almost 3 years ago I met face to face, for the first time, Steve Nolley a Marine who trained and served with Bruce. He was the one who identified Bruce after the ambush on the battlefield of Vietnam. When we met we did an interview for the local newspaper in Roseburg, OR. It was a couple of months before I met Taryn Davis, the young military widow who founded the American Widow Project and even in this interview, my thoughts were wondering how to help the new generation of military widows. I will post the link to the story. It was done in June 2007.

I'm not exactly sure how I will be using my blog site. I've been reluctant to share my most inner thoughts so publicly, but then, what are blogs for? It is part of the new generation and has taken awhile for me to get used to the idea. In my youth, silence and privacy were the norm even to the point of secrecy. I can't say it was a healthy way to deal with life. Certainly added to the difficulties I had, so maybe, just maybe the blog idea is a good one. Who reads them anyway? I'm thinking the pros just may outweigh the cons.

"People are like stained glass windows: they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within." ~~Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

How many of you remember this song? It sure takes me back to when I spent hours driving the streets (dragging the gut) in my 1969 Cougar listening to the 8 track stereo in my car. Lost...

I started out to post several songs by Lionel Richie but I have narrowed my selection to two. My Endless Love is a wonderful love song he performs with Diana Ross. The other I will post later, so come back and see which other Lionel Richie songs is one of my favorites.

It is nice to have firsts in life, especially at my age. This is my first blog site, this is the first time I've put together a web site. Simple, but a beginning.
