Light 05/26/2010

It won't be long until the 2010 PBS National Memorial Day Concert. I've learned that many of the actors/actresses, other talent, and production crew volunteer their time for this special event that will honor those who have died in war, as well as their families. It is an act of love. I'm thinking that the light from all the energy and love will combine into a bright beacon that can reach people who still live in the dark trenches of the battlefield of their mind and will serve to guide them as their heart finds it's way...home.
May God add His blessing to the production, the people involved, and those who will be watching. May we walk with hearts filled full of God's Peace.
See you there.

Dear Glenda,
I love how your story and Taryn's were woven together as a continuous fabric of sisterly love and survival. You looked so dignified and gracious at the National Memorial Day Concert. I'm sure you had a grand time on this Memorial Day! God bless!

Dear Glenda,
Your story, your telling your story, is a journey worth living..your unresolved grief has set the stage for new discussion. Tonight I have witnessed an acknowledgement like no other to a very large population of AMERICANS. The depths of your despair some 41 years ago today creates a well of resources for others,,, Most importantly a new ground has been created for AMERICANS to openly honor those that grieve. This is difficult in any loss , however your heartfelt efforts added more to my Memorial Day than any other. Your story is one of triumph and your willingness to continue to tell this story is the only way we will not forget.
My heartfelt sympathies for the your loss . My grateful appreciation for your life's work to honor it.. Truly Amazing!! Thank You again for bringing your voice and the subject to so many...Truly a tribute to you, and your love for your young husband taken away. You have given many a gift this night, amazing tribute .
laur-

I'm was so taken by the presentation of your contribution to the young widow during the Memorial Day Concert. I'm one of the many women who have are a new form of widow - those of us whose husbands suffer from PTSD. Many of us have become connected on a Start and Stripes Blog and I so wish there was a National Organization for those spouces torn by PTSD. I'm a Vietnam vets wife and the pain I'm going through is made worse by the blogs posted by the young women who are now facing the horrors of a spouce with PTSD as they return from current wars. We must be available to help each other. We've all become the sisterhood of the "wounded worriers" (an accidental term posted on the Stripes blog when the writer was referring to the "Wounded Warriers Assoc". What an appropriate term for those of us trying to deal with the PTSD of our spouces. Bless you Glenda, you help all of us deal with our wounds and suffering.

Glenda

I watched with amazement the PBS 2010 National Memorial Day show - how incredible that your struggle, and efforts to help other widows, has finally been recognized. The performers did a wonderful job of letting the viewers know about the extreme sacrifice of the soldiers' families.

I am going to put an article about the show in this week's Valley Herald, and would like to follow up next week with comments from your experience at the show and with other war widows.

I would love to have a picture of you at the event if you have one.

Also - your thoughts on the event, the individual people who talked with you, how it came about, anything you can think of.

I am so glad this happened for you and hope you realize your efforts have not been in vain. Bruce would be proud; and so is your hometown.

Hope to hear from you soon,
